Diazepam Withdrawal Symptoms

Benzodiazepines are notorious for developing a tolerance and physical dependence on the drugs. Diazepam and other benzodiazepines are the most commonly prescribed drugs in the United States for anxiety. It has been clinically proven that if the drugs are used for longer period, there is very good chance that the patient develops dependency on the drug. Withdrawal of Diazepam after a long-term usage will give rise to the withdrawal symptoms – a spectrum of clinical disorders observed in the diazepam users after its abandonment. The withdrawal symptoms of diazepam are quite similar to that of Alcohol’s. Diazepam dependency can occur even after the short-term usage of standard dosages of the drug; however, long-term usage of greater dosages will result in more severe and unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
